Privacy Policy

1. What we collect

When you submit the quote-request form on this website, we collect the personal information you choose to provide. That's usually:

• Your name
• Your suburb
• Your phone number
• Your email address (only if you provide one)
• A description of the work you need
• What type of customer you are (home owner, builder, designer, commercial)

We also automatically receive technical information from your browser when you submit the form — your IP address, the time of submission, and basic device information. This helps us catch spam.

We don't collect financial information, government identifiers, health information, or anything sensitive through the website.

2. Why we collect it

One reason: to respond to your quote request. We use your name and contact details to get back to you with pricing or to arrange a site visit. We use the details of the work you've described to scope the quote properly.

If you become a paying customer, we use the same information to manage the job, invoice you, and meet our compliance obligations as a licensed electrical contractor (including lodging Notice of Completion with Building & Energy WA where required).

We do not use your information for marketing emails, newsletters, or third-party advertising. We don't sell or rent it. If we ever start a marketing list, it'll be opt-in and you'll know about it.

3. How we store it

Quote-request submissions are received by Netlify, our website host, and stored on their secure servers. Netlify is a US-based company. By submitting the form you accept that your submission is transferred to and stored in the United States. Netlify complies with EU-US and other international data transfer frameworks.

Once we've responded to your enquiry, copies of your details may also live in:

• Google Workspace (our email and storage provider — US-based)
• ServiceM8 (our job-management software — Australian-based, jobs stored as part of quote/invoice records)
• Xero (our accounting software, used for invoiced jobs only — Australian-based)

All four providers use encryption in transit and at rest. We don't store your information on personal devices long-term.

4. Who we share it with

We don't share your personal information with anyone outside the service providers listed above (Netlify, Google, ServiceM8, Xero) unless one of these applies:

• You ask us to (e.g. to pass your contact details to a builder, designer, or other tradesperson on a shared job).
• We're required to by law (e.g. a court order, a request from Building & Energy WA, or a regulator).
• It's necessary to deal with a serious safety incident.

5. How long we keep it

Quote requests that don't turn into jobs are kept for up to 12 months, then deleted from our active systems.

Records that relate to completed work — invoices, quotes, Notice of Completion records, Electrical Safety Certificates — are kept for a minimum of 7 years as required by Australian tax law and WA electrical compliance regulations. After that period, we delete or de-identify them.

6. Your rights

Under the Australian Privacy Principles, you have the right to:

• Know what personal information we hold about you.
• Ask for a copy of it.
• Ask us to correct it if it's wrong or outdated.
• Ask us to delete it, except where we're required by law to keep records (see section 5).
• Make a complaint if you think we've mishandled your information.

To exercise any of these rights, email us at the address in section 10. We'll respond within 30 days. There's no charge for routine requests.

If you're not happy with our response, you can complain to the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner (OAIC) at oaic.gov.au.

7. Cookies and analytics

This website does not currently use cookies for tracking, advertising, or marketing. The site does not include Google Analytics, Facebook Pixel, or any third-party advertising scripts.

The honeypot field on the quote form is a hidden anti-spam mechanism — it doesn't store anything about you. It just helps us reject obvious bots.

If we add analytics in the future (most likely Google Analytics 4 or Plausible), we'll update this policy and you'll see a notice on the site.

8. Children

This website is intended for adults. We don't knowingly collect information from anyone under 16. If you're a parent or guardian and believe your child has submitted information through our site, email us and we'll delete it.

9. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. The "Last updated" date at the top of the page shows when the current version came into effect. For material changes (anything that meaningfully changes how we handle your data), we'll post a notice on this page for at least 30 days.
