Service For your home or new build Perth metro
Smart home retrofits are expensive and ugly. Pre-plaster prewires are clean, half the price, and never seen again. We coordinate with your builder, run cable for lighting control, data, Wi-Fi APs, security, and AV — and label every termination so it's ready when you choose your gear.

The problem
Smart home gear is plug-and-play in the showroom. In a finished house, it isn't. The cables need to get to the right places — through walls, ceilings, slabs, and around plumbing. After the plaster goes on, that means cutting, patching, painting, and giving up on the ones that just aren't reachable.
A pre-plaster prewire fixes all of that. While the studs are open and the ceiling cavity is accessible, we run cable for everything you might want in the next ten years — lighting control, data, Wi-Fi APs, security cameras, intercoms, AV, motorised blinds. We label every run at the rack. The fit-out happens later, on your schedule and your budget.
The catch: the rough-in has to land in the builder's schedule. Miss the window between frame and sheet day and you're back to retrofitting. We work to your builder's program — talk to us early.
What's involved
We coordinate with your builder, run the cables in the rough-in window, and leave a labelled rack ready for fit-out.
We look at the floor plan with you. Where do you want smart switches? Where will the TVs go? Where do you want Wi-Fi to actually reach? We mark it all up.
Once specced, we coordinate with the builder to land in the rough-in window. Frame up, services in, sheets on — we're in between services and sheets.
Cable runs for whichever lighting system you've chosen — Lutron, Clipsal C-Bus, Loxone, or basic dimmer + scene plates.
Cat6 to every TV point, data outlet, and ceiling Wi-Fi AP location. AV runs to the entertainment setup. All terminated at a central rack location.
Cable runs for cameras, alarm panel, video intercom. Power and data dropped to where you'll mount the gear later.
Every run labelled at both ends and at the rack. Patch panel ready to terminate. Hand-over document so the fit-out sparky (or you) knows what's what.
Signs you're due
If any of these apply, get on the phone before the plasterers do.
You're building new and the frame's going up in the next 8 weeks.
You're doing a major reno and walls are about to come down.
You've spec'd a smart home system and need someone who can wire it.
Wi-Fi already drops out in half the house and the build hasn't finished.
You want lighting scenes (movie / dinner / morning) without yelling at Alexa.
You're spec'ing security cameras around the property.
Motorised blinds, smart curtains, or zoned aircon — all need cable.
You want to add solar, battery, and EV charging without re-cutting walls.
Compliance & certification
All prewire cable is run to AS/NZS 3000 for electrical and AS/NZS 3080 / 3085 for structured cabling. Power and data are kept separated to manufacturer-spec minimums to avoid interference. Cable is rated for in-wall use, terminated cleanly, and tested end-to-end before plaster goes on.
Coordinated with the builder's program so we don't blow out the schedule. We hand over a labelling document and a rack layout for whoever does the fit-out — you, us, or the integrator you've chosen.
Dark Spark Electrical is licensed (EC15006) and carries public liability insurance. Builders welcome to ask for COIs.
From quote to certificate
We look at the floor plan with you and figure out what goes where. 30–60 minutes, usually on-site.
Fixed-price quote against the plan. Scheduled into the builder's program.
Pre-frame meeting with the builder. Rough-in happens after frame, before sheets.
Every run tested end-to-end. Labels on. Hand-over document delivered. Ready for fit-out whenever you are.
Smart home prewires FAQ
Between frame-up and sheet day. That window is usually 1–3 weeks depending on the builder. Talk to us as soon as you have a frame date.
Both options. We can spec and supply (lighting modules, Wi-Fi APs, cameras) or just run the cable and terminate, and you bring your own integrator. Up to you.
Lutron, Clipsal C-Bus, Loxone, basic dimmer + scene plates. Each system has different cable requirements — we wire to the system's spec.
Some of it. Anything in the ceiling cavity (downlights, AV) is doable. Anything in a wall (switches, GPOs, network outlets) usually means cutting and patching. Cheaper to do it now.
Sometimes. Smart lighting controllers and big AV setups can need a sub-board. We design it into the prewire if so.
Basic (lighting scenes + Wi-Fi + Cat6), Standard (adds whole-home automation, smart blinds, security cameras), Premium (adds AV multi-room, full Lutron / Loxone, advanced security). We talk through it on the plan walk.
