The problem
Standard sparkies work 7 to 3. Commercial venues don't. The lunch rush, the dinner service, the weekend trade — none of those line up with when most contractors are willing to be on site.
We work around your trading. Overnight install, weekend rough-in, before-open fit-off. Three-phase work, switchboard upgrades, kitchen GPOs, feature lighting — done while you're closed, signed off before you open.
Whether it's a new restaurant fit-out, a venue lighting upgrade, a switchboard at end of life, or a commercial unit GPO add-out — we scope it, schedule it around your trading, and finish it without you losing a service.
What's involved
Every job specced to your venue's hours. Most commercial work happens after-hours and weekends — no exception, no surcharge buried in the small print.
On-site walk through, in your trading hours or out — your call. Scope locked, fixed-price quote back within 1–2 days.
We work to your trading hours. Overnight, weekend, before-open — whatever keeps you trading. No "we'll see what we can do".
Commercial loads need commercial boards. Three-phase RCBO upgrades, sub-boards, custom enclosures.
Feature lighting, track, pendants, ambient — fit-off scheduled to your design timeline. Coordinated with your designer or fit-out PM.
Commercial-rated GPOs, IP-rated outdoor fittings, kitchen power, comms cable for POS and Wi-Fi.
Every circuit tested under load. Compliance lodged. ESC delivered. Out before the breakfast rush.
Signs you're due
If your last fit-out had any of these, you'll know the pain. None of these on our jobs.
Quoted day-rate work, then needed weekend access — and got a 60% surcharge.
Lighting designer chose feature pendants, sparky said "too hard".
Three-phase needed and the sparky'd never wired one.
Kitchen GPOs failed inspection because they weren't IP-rated.
Schedule slipped, opening night pushed.
Compliance paperwork never arrived, insurer asking questions.
Builder coordination fell over — sparky and tiler turned up the same day.
Variations charged at panic rates because they came up mid-fit-out.
Compliance & certification
All commercial work is carried out to AS/NZS 3000 (Wiring Rules), the WA Electrical Requirements (WAER), and where relevant AS/NZS 3760 for test & tag of installed equipment. Commercial kitchens, wet areas, and outdoor zones get IP-rated fittings to the appropriate spec.
Notice of Completion lodged via eNotice WA. Electrical Safety Certificate delivered on completion — your insurer and your council will want it.
Dark Spark Electrical is licensed (EC15006) and carries public liability insurance. Certificates of currency supplied on request. WA Security of Payment Act 2021 applies — progress claims on commercial jobs are protected and chased properly.
From quote to certificate
We come out, in or out of trading hours. Scope agreed. 30–60 minutes.
Itemised or lump-sum, your preference. Variations and exclusions clear up front. Back within 1–2 days.
Install scheduled around your hours. Overnight, weekend, or staged across multiple visits — whatever doesn't shut you down.
Tested, compliant, lodged, certified. ESC delivered. Out before you open.
Commercial fit-out electrical FAQ
Yes — it's most of what we do for commercial. No surcharge buried in the small print; it's quoted as the job rate. Standard hours for the quote walk, after-hours for the install.
Often yes — depending on the work. GPO additions in a back office or back-of-house can happen mid-trade. Switchboard or kitchen work usually needs the venue closed.
Both. We coordinate with builders for new fit-outs and lighting designers for spec'd jobs. Plan markup and lighting layout collaboration is a standard service.
All standard work. Most commercial venues need three-phase for kitchen equipment, AC, or charging. Sub-boards for sectional metering, custom enclosures where the standard sizing doesn't fit.
Yes. eNotice lodged and ESC delivered before we leave site, or within 24 hours if there's a back-end delay. We don't make you chase it.
Yes — periodic safety inspections, RCD testing, emergency lighting checks, test & tag. Set up as a quarterly or half-yearly schedule. Talk to us about a service agreement.
